Bike-to-School Day, Hunter College, 2008
From Urban Earth
Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 was Bike-to-School day at Hunter College. Members of the Hunter Urban Sustainability Coalition organized and ran the event.
Dozens of students biked to school that day. Bike racks around campus were packed with bikes. Volunteers patrolled the bike parking areas on campus to make sure that all the bikes remained secure.
HUSC members tabled on the 3rd floor of the West Building. They gave away about 100 NYC bike maps, courtesy of the DOT. Transportation Alternatives provided a box full of T.A. Water bottles and another box of literature (about the Century Tour, a bike giveaway, and the TimeOut special issue on bikes), which tablers handed out along with free healthy snacks. The HUSC banner looked awesome and so did the movie screenings
Four pages of signatures were collected on HUSC's petition for better bike parking on campus.
