Objective:

The objective of this course is to provide students with an active learning experience during which they will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in the realm of civic engagement, specifically environmentalism. Students will address questions regarding the structure, implementation, and effectiveness of civic environmental activities focused on contemporary urban environmental change.

Students will: A) Be briefed in skills on the matter of engagement and advocacy including: public speaking, research skills, media writing

B) Be introduced to the theories of civic environmentalism and local participatory democracy.

B) Act as participants and planners in Hunter Focus the Nation (FTN) activities to provide logistical support, outreach and general assistance to planners of said events, scheduled to take place on campus on or around January 31st.
